Orthopedics & Joint Replacements

Our team consists of four Orthopaedic Surgeons who have been trained in different fields of Orthopedics extensively. They have worked in different centers of Orthopedic excellence across the globe. Together their commitment is to provide world class orthopedic care to their patients at a nominal and affordable cost. Their endeavour is also to individualize the treatment to meet the needs of each patient.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

Total Knee Replacement : It is an operation win which we do not remove the whole joint, only the damaged surface of thigh bone(Femur) and shin bone(Tibia) are shaved off. Often, underside of the kneecap(patella) is also removed and these surfaces are replaced with artificial parts. The new joint consists of a metal shell on the end of the femur, a metal plate covered with a plastic trough on the tibia, and if needed, a plastic button the knee cap. It is an operation where one just resurfaces the damaged knee joint, as is done in capping a damaged tooth.

Advances in design materials of artificial joints, advances in surgical techniques, better pain management after surgery, and quicker rehabilitation are all factors that have made knee replacement one of the safest and clinically proven procedures. In India alone more than 1 lakh knee replacements are performed each year.

Total Hip Replacement: Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which the hip joint is replaced by a prosthetic implant. Hip replacement surgery can be performed as a total replacement or a hemi (half) replacement. Such hip joint replacement orthopedic surgery in India is generally conducted to relieve arthritic pain or fix severe physical joint damage as part of hip fracture treatment or Avascular Necrosis.

A total hip replacement (total hip arthroplasty) consists of replacing both the acetabulum and the femoral head while hemiarthroplasty generally only replaces the femoral head. Hip replacement in India is currently the most successful and reliable orthopedic operation with 97% of patients reporting improved outcome even after 10 years. Arthroscopic ACL/PCL/Meniscus Reconstruction: Arthroscopic Surgery & Sports Medicine is a speacialized field of Orthopedics, where interior of the joint can be visualized through a telescope (arthroscope) and the whole procedure can be seen on a TV monitor. With this procedure many young patients suffering from Sports Injuries especially related to Knee, Shoulder & other joints get benefit. Various disorders like ligament tears, meniscal pathologies, chondral defects etc. can be treated, enabling early return to work. ACL is an important ligament present in the knee joint which provides stability to the knee and is essential for day to day activities in life and to achieve higher levels of activity in sports, running, jogging etc. This ligament can be reconstructed arthroscopically.

Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery: Recurrent shoulder dislocation is seen in young person where the shoulder frequently slips out of its socket. This causes extreme pain and discomfort to the patient. This usually follows injury to the capsule and ligament of the shoulder due to trauma. Patient is under constant fear of his shoulder getting dislocated. Arthroscopic Bankart Repair has revolutionised the management of this problem. Previously open surgeries were performed leading to stiffness. But now torn ligaments are fixed by arthroscopic technique where small keyhole cuts are made over the shoulder joint through which torn capsule & labrum are repaired. This technique has excellent success rate without any stiffness or restriction of movement.

Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair (Shoulder Arthroscopy):Shoulder joint is surrounded by group of muscles called rotator cuff which is the most important muscles for the shoulder joint. This muscles can get torn due to injury in younger individual . But this is mostly torn in elderly persons due to degeneration( wear & tear) without any significant trauma. Patient complains of pain, weakness in his shoulder and in long standing cases it can lead to arthritis of the shoulder joint. -Rotator Cuff tears don't heal by themselves. In partial or small tears conservative management can be tried. But if problem persists or if the tear is large this requires surgical repair. Previously open surgery was done for the repair but now the whole repair can be done arthroscopicaly (keyhole technique). Tiny holes are made in the skin over the shoulder joint through which small camera is inserted and repair is done. This relieves the pain and function is restored.

Complex Trauma: Our team has all the latest instrumentation for performing trauma surgery 24x7 in laminal air flow operational theaters, supported by a fully equipped surgical intensive care unit. Trauma treatment has become highly specialized and the aim of treatment is to facilitate early ambulation and movement of joints with early return to function. A special team approach is practiced for poly trauma patients with the help of neurosurgeons, plastic surgeons and chest and abdominal surgeons and intensive care unit specialists.
